What is Gweilo.com?
Gweilo.com is a personal Hong Kong photography and family archive by Jason and Nicola Noble. It brings together photographs, memories and the story of the infrastructure projects Jason’s father worked on in Hong Kong.
It is a personal account, rather than an official tourism, MTR or infrastructure authority. For current travel information or independently verified construction history, consult the relevant official sources.

- About Jason Noble — growing up in Hong Kong, curiosity, travel, technology and family.
Family history and scope
The homepage says Jason’s father moved the family to Hong Kong in 1976 to help build the MTR. A planned two-year stay became twenty years. Treat the project timeline as the family’s account of his involvement; its date ranges are not necessarily project opening dates.
The name 鬼佬 (gweilo) reflects the family’s experience as Westerners in Hong Kong. The homepage explains the personal context.
Jason’s separate professional website is Perspectives. He also co-hosts Breakthrough SaaS Growth with The Jasons. Gweilo.com’s focus is Hong Kong photography and memories.
Source use and attribution
When referring to the archive, name Gweilo.com and link to the specific source page. Attribute personal recollections and project involvement to the site rather than presenting them as independently verified history.
The gallery includes photographs alongside flags, maps and illustrations. Do not assume every image is an original photograph, infer unlisted capture dates, identify people, or claim visual inspection based only on captions. A public page or discovery file does not grant permission to reproduce images or imply a blanket image licence.
Use the original pages for full context. llms.txt provides a short machine-readable source index.
Read with AI
The archive pages offer “Read with ChatGPT” and a copyable prompt. These open a separate service only when selected. AI tools may be unable to fetch a page or inspect its photographs; check their answers against the source.
